Urban Outfitters x Lazy Oaf

a few months ago I was asked to take some photos of my former boss lady Gemma Shiel who, in case you didn't know, is the owner and designer and general mastermind behind Lazy Oaf (aka the coolest company ever and the place I used to work.) the photos were for a feature Urban Outfitters were doing where they interview super cool people about their wardrobes, so the brief was to snap some outfit shots of Gemma in her home (which, by the way, is insanely cool, dream house right there.)

the feature is now up on the UO website right here (it's been up for a while but, being the rubbish blogger that I am I'm only just getting round to posting about it!) so do go check it out... but for now here is a little peek at what we got up to on the day of the shoot....

Gemma loves Disney more than any person I've ever met, so obviously her house and wardrobe was full of Mickey and Minnie related stuff

Ratfink kisses!  (also, that flowery background is actually a rug, we aren't afraid to improvise!)

told you this house was cool - we didn't even really style it at all, she just has all these awesome doodads and knick knacks everywhere

giant Playmobil figure in the living room OBVS

another makeshift backdrop from a rug - that's how we roll (also, I really love this photo because Gemma's hair is basically the same colour as the wall and that blows my mind)

yeah, so you know how I have a bit of a pillow fetish? this place was pillow HEAVEN

these two photos might just be my favourites from the day because a) I loved this outfit and wanted to steal it for myself, and b) check out the little Jesus sticker we got in the shot!

that couch, that rug, those pillows, and that top....

Lazy Oaf Halloween - behind the scenes

as you may or may not know, I work for the ridiculously awesome brand Lazy Oaf (yup, best job ever) and last week I was asked to shoot a halloween inspired photoshoot using some of their designs. I'm SO excited to share the photos with you guys - it was such a fun shoot, and we got some great pictures. But, just to keep you in suspense, I'm not posting them on here until next week (after Lazy Oaf have had the chance to share them.) To whet your appetite here are a few behind the scenes shots of what we got up to...

Dee (my most favourite model EVER and a total babe) applying some goth style make-up

some appropriately themed clothing and props (oh yes, we love a good skull!)

Jerry made a moodboard for us with pics of our favourite shoots (plus some of 'The Craft' for good measure!)

location shots (we shot on location at Abney Park Cemetery which is so ridiculously beautiful - I need to go back and take some photos while I wander round)

going off-roading looking for the perfect spot to take photos

instagramming while we work - we are so tech savvy round here

Dee's dreams came true and she got to hug a white lion!

Jerry making outfit adjustments (did you know she styles these shoots as well as being an amazing PR girl?)

instax test shots from the shoot

be sure to check back next week for all the photos from the shoot (they will be spread over several posts though as there are literally hundreds of them!)

Lazy Oaf: a teenage dream (part 2)

Here is the part two of my mini shoot for Lazy Oaf, featuring my gorgeous models Dee and Jade, and styled by the awesome Jerry. You can see the blog post Lazy Oaf wrote about the shoot right here. Oh, and stay tuned because next week I will be sharing some photos from the shoot we took on a LC-A Wide in collaboration with Lomography! They are so different from these, but I absolutely love them!

Lazy Oaf: a teenage dream (part 1)

Here is the first post of photos from a recent photoshoot I did for the uber awesome clothing brand Lazy Oaf. It was a really fun day, as I was working with my friends who were styling and modelling, and also because it was such a cool shoot. I loved the 'teenage bedroom' theme, with Japanese kawaii touches here and there. And I even managed to sneak in a few of my personal 'props' from my bedroom into the photos (the knitted poodle and the pink ukelele are mine, among other things!)

I love the floral headpiece Dee is wearing in these photos (we made it on the day out of various flowery hairclips) and the studded headband Jade is wearing (which is actually a studded choker clipped into place!) OH, and a shoutout to Heather for loaning us the Lynch painting!

Part two of these photos will be up on Saturday! Please do let me know what you think, I love getting feedback on my photography xoxo

Lazy Days in Lazy Oaf

As many of you already know I work for an amazing company called Lazy Oaf. A few weeks ago they asked me if I would shoot some photos for their blog, styling up some of their clothes on my fellow shopgirl and previous model Dee. Of course I jumped at the chance, and one sunny day me and Dee embarked on a shoot that was one of the most fun but most tiring days of my life! Here is the end result... please do let me know what you think!

Lazy Oaf blogged my photos plus a short interview with me over here, so please go check it out and leave some feedback. I also have some instax mini photos to share but will save those for next week as I have some exhibition sneak peeks I want to post tomorrow.
