valentines day collection: a sneak peek

okay, time to 'fess up. I have a guilty secret to share with you all. are you ready for it? I love Valentine's Day. not the whole 'spend loads of money unnecessarily to show someone you love that you love them on a specific day' side of things. I believe that should all just come naturally as part of a relationship. but, hear me out.... hearts? pink? glitter? silly puns on greetings cards? what's not to love?! seriously though guys - I've never met a heart-shaped/heart print thing I didn't love. with these things in mind, I wanted to share a few sneak peeks of my new Valentine's Day range which will be online on Monday (hopefully!)

 these brooches are made using images taken from vintage Valentine's cards - I love the little puns on them and the amazing graphics and colours!

 and FINALLY (I know so many of you have been asking about them, sorry it has taken me forever to add them to the shop!) the badge cards will be available to buy in a huge range of phrases! these are my absolute favourite Ladybird Likes item right now, and I've gone a bit crazy making loads of different sayings - they are perfect for Valentine's or any occasion!

new collection: quotes and words

if you follow me over on Twitter or Instagram (I'm @ladybirdlikes on both if you want to start!) you will have seen me sharing LOTS of peeks at this new collection. well today I finally launched my newest range - and it's not just jewellery. there are wall hangings, keyrings, postcards, and also some hand-painted necklaces.

this new collection was inspired by my love for motivational and inspiring quotes and phrases. I have a whole board over on Pinterest where I keep any that I find on my internet travels, but I felt like I didn't want them just sitting in a virtual cupboard, I wanted to see them every single day. the idea hit me to create a range of wearable, usable, displayable items featuring some of my favourite quotes, but still using laser cut wood as much as possible. and here is the end result!

these banner necklaces are one of my all time favourite Ladybird Likes pieces - laser cut and engraved from birch ply, each one is hand-painted to order in your choice of colour. there are seven different quotes to choose from, and nine colour options. the only question is, which one would you pick?

 these wooden engraved keyrings were a huge hit on our market stalls over Christmas as they make such wonderfully unique gifts (although they are also perfect for treating yourself!) we will also be adding more styles of keyrings to our Etsy shop over the next few months, including some heart shaped ones in time for Valentines Day, and some more male-friendly options!

 our wooden wall signs are perfect for hanging in your bedroom, living room, studio - anywhere you need a little bit of motivation or encouragement. made from laser engraved birch laminate, they go perfectly with any decor, and also make super thoughtful gifts. we currently have four different quotes to choose from.

 our first stationery item is now available too - a pack of six postcards designed by me and professionally printed on A6 sized cardstock. these are just the beginning of the Ladybird Likes stationery range, and I hope by the end of the year to also have prints, notebooks, and perhaps some homewares available!

we like stationery

I've been slowly working on rebranding Ladybird Likes - I felt it was a bit too twee and basic before, and I wanted the brand to feel a bit more minimal and clean so that I could design a wider range of products under the same brand name and branding. part of the redesign was thinking about what I wanted the Ladybird Likes brand to be. I've always loved the idea of inspiring people and motivating people, and I wanted to somehow incorporate that into our brand, so I came up with the idea of designing some movtivational postcards and stickers to include with our online orders.....

 I wanted them to be pretty and to fit in with the Ladybird Likes aesthetic and colour scheme, and to be things that people wouldn't just get and chuck in the bin, but would actually put up around their room, or send on to a loved one and spread the love.

I really hope you love these postcards and stickers - I was thinking of maybe making up sets of all our postcard designs (plus a few others I've been working on) to sell at craft fairs over Christmas - what do you think?we have made up little packs containing two postcards, two stickers, and a couple of business cards, which will be going in with all orders from around the end of October (we are using up all our old style business cards and free gifts first) - we will also be sharing more of our new branding, including our new packaging and business cards, over the next few weeks.

new collar clips

We have several new collections up our sleeves right now, and we will be launching the first of them next week (as long as everything goes to plan) but for now we thought we would share with you three very limited edition items we have just added to our Etsy shop. If you follow us over on Instagram (we are @ladybirdlikes) you will have seen the sneak peeks at these items.

First up are these delightful moustache collar clips - a perfect touch of quirkiness to any outfit. Simply pin on to a boring collar to instantly jazz it up!

We love anything with moustaches on (yes, we know it's been done to death, but come on, moustaches you can wear on your collar?!) so these have become a firm favourite at Ladybird Likes HQ and I have gotten a lot of attention when I wear mine out!

 I've developed a bit of a fixation with teeth at the moment - something about their simple shape and their whiteness really appeals to me aesthetically, and so I knew I had to make some tooth jewellery! There is a tooth necklace - you can choose whether you'd like it on a silver coloured chain or a gold coloured chain. This has fast become my current favourite item of jewellery, and I haven't taken it off since I made it as it goes with everything!

 Continuing with the tooth theme we have tooth collar clips which, as you can see, look totally adorable pinned on to little peter pan collars! We have been experimenting with different ways to wear collar clips, and have decided these tooth ones look equally awesome just worn as a double brooch on a jacket or cardigan.

 All these items are available in very limited numbers (15 of each only) so it's a great chance to own a piece of jewellery that only a very few other people will have, for a very small price (the collar clips are only £10 each, and the tooth necklace is only £8!)
