studio tour: through the keyhole

If you follow me on Twitter you may have seen yesterday that I tweeted about being featured over on the awesome Blog and Buy Sale website. They have a weekly feature called 'Ace Space' where they take a virtual tour of one creative individuals workspace, and this week they have featured mine! If you fancy reading a bit about where I work you can go check out the post. But I thought it would also be a good opportunity to blog about my studio on here too - I've been meaning to photograph and blog about my craft room for a long time, but kept putting it off as sometimes I feel it doesn't quite match up to those uber cool, beautifully decorated spaces I see on pinterest and on design blogs. But here it is anyway folks!

I have two desks in my studio, facing away from each other - one for computer stuff, such as emails, photo editing, social networking, etsy shop updates, accounting, all that jazz, and the other desk is where I make stuff. Although technically I now have three desks, one of which is my sister's where she works when she helps me.

My computer desk where I spend more time than is probably considered healthy. I have all my favourite things around me as I sit here, and it's one of my favourite parts of my house.

On the shelf above my computer are some of my favourite things - my handmade owl from Custom Made, my plush Sophie kitten from Knickerbocker Glories, a vintage cup full of old wooden cotton reels, a little human bean from Stuffed Nonsense, and a pair of framed photos a stallholder at a car boot sale gave me. Oh, and in the background is a tiny portion of my magazine collection.

The wall next to my crafting desk is covered in magazine clippings, photos, postcards, anything inspiring really. My favourite part has to be the embroidered quote from Megan of Moonbeam Wishes.

Not even my desk space escapes the clutter - I had to have this photo of my pupster in here somewhere, but there wasn't room on the walls! Plus that mushroom canister is one of my favourite boot sale finds ever. It's empty at the moment waiting for the perfect thing to store inside...

On my desk chair I have a bourbon cushion from Nikki McWilliams (I also have the chocolate digestive but my sister has nabbed it for her chair!), an owl cushion by Retro Pigeon, and a sunshine plush by Megan. My favourite part of my desk is definitely my rainbow coloured keyboard though! The decals are from Etsy - just search rainbow keyboard stickers.

A few more snaps of some of the corners in my room - it all looks rather tidy here, but in reality it's usually a lot more haphazard than this! Also, I've realised that having lots of 'things' on display in here means I have to spend a lot of time moving stuff from one place to another... counter-productive perhaps!

And finally, here is the shelf my packaging supplies are stored on. I keep everything to hand to make it easy to find what I need when I'm packaging up orders. I'm very anal about having things nicely organised - there's nothing I hate more than a drawer with stuff just thrown in so you can't find anything!

So there you have it, a little peek inside my humble abode! Hope you've enjoyed having a nose around. Soon I hope to share some photos of my bedroom too, as it's changed a bit since the last time I blogged pictures of it.

  1. I love it! Such a fabulous space. My workspace is shameful in comparison! (though I do have to sleep in it - due to lack of room space in our house!) haha Ax
