new packaging is my favourite

as my business grows I'm slowly working on improving various aspects of it. when I first started I knew I wanted to keep the packaging simple - partly because of the cost and time involved, but partly because that is the sort of aesthetic that appeals to me. since starting to sell wholesale I've had to work on branding my packaging better, so that no matter where people buy my items from, they still know they are by Ladybird Likes. I designed some custom stamps to help jazz up and brand my packaging....

a long stamp to put my business name on to my paper bags for using at craft fairs and markets - they are stamped on the reverse and then folded over so the business name ends up on the front (as you can see in the final photo)

I needed a way to brand my necklaces - I didn't want to package them up too much, as I want people to be able to hold them and try them on, so I had a smaller tag made and then cut narrow rectangles to serve as necklace tags. the necklaces can still be hung up and tried on, but the Ladybird Likes brand is there too.

I love seeing how people package the items they make - I feel the way you package and present your items, whether it's online or in real life, makes a real difference to the way people perceive your brand, and how likely they are to make a purchase.

I'm currently working on a series of blog posts focusing on setting up and running a small business, and I will be discussing more about branding and packaging then. but if anyone has any questions they'd like me to specifically address in the blog posts then feel free to post them in the comments below :)

  2. Oh my! Not only this packaging is awesome but you know in life when everything seems to fit? Well, your post is like that. I explain : the serie of post you want to make is just perfect because I admire your work so much, and I am planning on oppening an Etsy soon... So I need tips from etsy-stars like you. If I can ask, did you purchase the paper enveloppes on The Plaid Barn?

Thanks a lot for this inspiration, cant wait to read your future posts!

  3. Well, I like the fact that you use relatively little stuff for the packaging but what you do use is pretty and well branded.

  5. Love those tags, funnily enough I've just made a stamp for my own bags too. Packaging is so important and I love bundling up orders like they're birthday presents :) I must say the package of Ladybird Likes goodies that came through my door was gorgeous...lots of little parcels to open still :)

  6. Your packaging looks brilliant, Zoe, The idea of using a stamp to state your brand was great. It was very simple yet would definitely be remembered by your customers. You did such a wonderful job on this!

  7. It looks both unique and crafty. I think it can be a good strategy to broaden your horizons. In that way, it will be easy for you to find a new market if you plan on expanding.
