a jasper update

last week I treated myself to a new digital camera. my old canon DSLR was dying, so it was quite a necessary purchase! but the first thing I pointed my new camera at once I took it out of the box was Jasper. and looking at these pictures made me realise I don't talk about him on this blog often enough. two weeks ago we had a scare - Jasper was really ill, not eating, barely able to move, and he kept throwing up. we took him to the vets and he was diagnosed with a severe case of pancreatitis, most probably the result of his ongoing medication for his epilepsy. he is fine now, but it really did scare me, and I hated having to think about the fact that at some point this little guy will leave us. he is at the centre of our family - he is treated more like a child than a dog. and as I work from home every day he is my constant companion.

my pupster is like my best friend and my child rolled into one! which sounds daft I know - he is a dog after all. but I love this guy so much. who needs a boyfriend/girlfriend when you have a four-legged creature to snuggle up with?

  1. Japster is gorgeous, glad he is feeling better since his health scare. I didn't know until we got Bodhi just how much they become a part of your family, I couldn't imagine being without him now! xo

  2. I'm glad he's feeling better! It's horrible when a pet is ill. I feel the same about my dogs! Just thinking about them not being here one day makes me eyes all teary. Your Jasper is beautiful :) x

  6. Only because it's dog doesn't mean you have to love him less. It's a living being :)

My cats and dogs are the same for me.
My father had a dog with epilapsy also. It scared us also the first time he had an attack. But with the medication it was fine until someone stoled him :(

But Jasper it's fine and he's gona make more sweet faces for uour new camera, waiting for you to give him a treat.

  8. I watched The Secret life of Dogs a few weeks ago, and apparently the same hormone that is released between a mother and baby is released between a human and their dog. Good old Oxytocin. So, it's totally ok that we treat our dogs like our children - in fact, we're helpless to it. Glad Jasper is feeling better, he's such a cutie. xx
