You may or may not know that Ladybird Likes is part of the Designer Makers collective. We have been participating in their monthly markets at Old Spitalfields since March, and love it, so when they announced they were holding a special three-day Christmas market in conjunction with the Southbank Centre, well we jumped at the chance to participate! It runs from 12pm on Friday 14th December, and runs till 8pm on Sunday 16th December! There will be 50 stalls of handmade items, including ourselves, and the line up of vendors looks awesome! It's being held in the Festival Village section of the Southbank Centre which is an amazing space, entirely built by volunteers to be used for projects, exhibitions and events such as this market.
It's more than just a market - there will be talks by professionals from the creative industry, plus a series of workshops by some awesome designer maker groups. Plus there will be some festive food and drink to purchase (mulled wine, yummmm) so you can really make a day of it. Rather than battling the crowds on the high street, why not come along and buy handmade gifts, and support crafters like myself? You get to buy interesting gifts, which are lovingly made, as opposed to the mass-produced tat which fills the shelves of massive chain stores, and which are most likely made by workers in third world countries (rant over!)
