'so it goes' is a quote from Kurt Vonnegut's Slaughterhouse 5 (I have this tattooed on my wrist too) - I stitched up a tiny version and popped it in this vintage slide binder. I'm thinking about making some of these mini embroideries for my shop too... what do you reckon?
yup, that's from Teenage Dream by Katy Perry, ha! But it's something I feel like I need reminding of on a regular basis, as I find it all too easy to get stuck reminiscing about the past and wondering about what could have been
lastly, a vintage map (glued on to card as paper is so hard to embroider on!) with lyrics from Home by Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros.
I used the same font for all three pieces, just in different sizes. I'm going to try experimenting with some different fonts, and maybe some collage pieces incorporating embroidery. What is everyone else working on at the moment? Does any one else have 'on the go' crafts to work on whilst they're on the bus/train?xoxo
These are beautiful :)
ReplyDeletePS. I like Katy Perry too hehe. I got to meet her...I didn't used to like her but now I do...the madness!
haha yes Katy Perry is a bit of a guilty pleasure :) and thank you, you're too sweet xo
DeleteLove these. I'd love to start doing some embroidery. Was thinking of making some tags for my scarves this way. Perhaps over coffee you can give me some pointers! xx
ReplyDeleteI find embroidery really relaxing :) oooh embroidered tags would be beautiful! yes, we need to arrange that coffee date. i will give you a text xoxo
DeleteThis is my first time seeing your blog.. And I love it! (I Came over from Seventy Tree today.)
ReplyDeleteI can't wait to see your etsy shop, but mostly I can't stop thinking about "so it goes". There's a sort of release in that statement that really resonates with me and I think that's the best worded tattoo I've heard of in a long time.
Anyway, thanks for the inspiration today!
Oh that is gorgeous. Love the map, esp as someone from New Zealand with someone from Wales. It rings true! x
ReplyDeleteOh I love them all! But especially the map one – we did our wedding signing to that song so it's always going to have a special place in my heart! :)
ReplyDeleteI adore this idea! I'm crazy about quotes, lyrics, proverbs etc!
ReplyDeleteLove the font you used, too :)
Ah! I love the map with the quote from Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros. That's my favorite song from them and speaks to me so much as my lovely fella is an archeologist so we are always on the move.
ReplyDeleteReally lovely idea! So original too :)
