Thanksgiving

I am not American. As often as I wish I was, I was not born in America, and I have never lived there. This means I tecinically shouldn't celebrate Thanksgiving. And I'm not really going to, as there will be no big turkey meal, no pumpkin pie, no family gathering. But I just love the idea of a holiday that is all about celebrating the things you are thankful for. Because, when I think about it, I have so much to be thankful for. And I know, I know, you shouldn't need an excuse to be thankful, but sometimes it helps! So here are some of the things in my life I am so very thankful for right now:

* feeling totally supported - right now I am struggling a lot with a few aspects of my life, not least being the fact that I'm studying on a course which is sapping all my energy and all my creativity. But I know I will get through because I have the most amazing people behind me, and they will never let me down.

* blogging - silly, I know, but even though my blog is still teeny tiny, I love the whole blogging community, and I love being a part of it, however small and insignificant. I feel inspired and motivated, and for the first time I am meeting (even if only virtually!) people who really 'get me.'

* gingerbread lattes - they make me feel like it's Christmas every day

* creative friends - I've never felt so constantly inspired. Having so many 'arty' friends who encourage me to always be making or doing something is definitely something I am so so thankful for, as well as having so many people around me who encourage me and tell me what I'm doing is worthwhile.

* my cameras - they are the tools that let me do what I do, and I love each and every one of them in a very special way. Even when they jam the film/won't wind on/don't focus properly/their batteries fall out/though themselves on the floor for no good reason.

There are so many more things, but I don't want to gush too much. (yes, I'm a gusher at times, and what?) I just want to wish all my readers, wherever you are from, a very Happy Thanksgiving. What are you thankful for? xxx

  1. Oh Zoe I hope I'm one of the people who getchoo (say in Rivers Cuomo voice)

    I'm thankful for:
    * my parents/boyfriend/friends: this year has been mega hard for me and they're all dealing with it in the best way possible and supporting all my decisions.

*music: I really think punk rock's saved my life twice so far.

*creative people: I love having creative people around me and a million projects going on at the same time.

*Blogging! I couldn't leave this out. it's a constant source of inspiration, it means I am never bored and I get to meet awesome people

*tea: the summer had almost made me forget how comforting a cup of tea can be

*All the amazing people I have met in the different places I've lived in. I feel truly lucky to have connected with such an amazing collection of people and to have established long lasting friendships that are stronger than distance.

This is the longest comment ever. I'll leave it here.
