I went for a lovely jaunt in East London last Sunday with Kate. From top to bottom: gorgeous owl illustration on a zine in Rough Trade, bicycle shadows are my new favourite, Union Jack dressing table and my feet (wearing new Toms!), vintage luggage trunks in Spitalfields, and lots of old Penguin Classics which I need in my life.

Disneyland anyone?
I nearly died when I was shown this video for the Little Mermaid ride that is currently being built in Disneyland California. Pretty much the most exciting thing ever. The Little Mermaid is my all time favourite Disney film. I am Ariel.

Boot Sale Bounty
Two weeks ago I went to a boot sale and pretty much hit the thrifting JACKPOT. From top to bottom:
Polaroid film (and some Fujifilm that can be used instead of Polaroid) - this is all expired but it was 50p a box so what could I do? Now I need to get a land camera to put it in.
Mary Poppins jigsaws - £1 each. Love Mary Poppins, and I kinda collect old jigsaws. I don't know what to do with them though. Make them up and frame them, or just display the boxes?
Vintage glasses - I only actually bought the two middle ones with the all over bird pattern, but the lovely lady who owned the stall gave me the pineapple and kingfisher ones for free. Worked out £1 for all four.
Traveller twin lens camera - I've been after one of these for AGES to take TTV shots with. Only cost me a quid too.
Polaroid camera - this one takes 600 film so think I might keep it for when the film made by the Impossible Project gets within my price range (if that ever happens)
I also got some lovely clothes, and the cutest black ankle boots. All in all, a pretty good haul!

Rob Ryan
The piece up above is one of my all time favourites. If money was no object I would like to own one of his original paper cuttings. One of the enormous ones that sell for crazy sums of money. Yes please. Oh, and I pretty much NEED to make the pilgrimage to Ryantown on Columbia Road.

Actually this one might be my favourite.... Who am I kidding, they're all my favourite.

After Dark
Last week I went for an evening stroll with my dad, sister, and our dog Jasper. The sun was just going down and the sky looked incredible, so I couldn't resist taking some photos. My obsession with photographing the sky, clouds, and sunsets has definitely not diminished. It's one of the many reasons why I love summer.
Brighton through a plastic lens...
Me and the oh so lovely Kate face went for a day trip to Brighton, simply because we love it there (and because it was Kate's birthday last week and we felt it was a good excuse to indulge ourselves.) We got extremely excited on the train, ate lunch on the beach, giggled like kids, took a ton of photos, decided deckchairs are rather dangerous, strolled through the Laines, did NOT eat any form of jellied seafood, and generally had a rather wonderful day.
Photos: Diana Mini, Fuji Superia 200. (ignore the fact that most are not in focus. Apparently I forgot you could change the focusing distance. Whoops.)

Up, Up, and Away
These pieces of artwork, inspired by retro travel posters, were published by Disney to promote Up! when it was released on DVD. Designed by an array of artists, they were created for inspiration during the production of the film.
In order they are:
'Fly Up' by Paul Conrad
'Journey Into The Wild' by Eric Tan
'Natural Wonders' by Paul Conrad
'Paradise Falls' by Erik Evans

Bookshelf Art

Totally in love with these paintings by Jane Mount, a super talented illustrator from Altanta. I'm very jealous of anyone who can draw, because, like being able to sing, it's one of the many skills I do not possess. Also because Jane is just so darn cool. Her subject of choice in this collection is other people's bookshelves. I think you can tell a lot about someone by what books they have in their home. You can buy prints of these paintings, along with lots of her other beautiful artwork, in her Etsy shop.
Library Couture

This rather wonderful Etsy seller makes these teeny tiny books of all shapes and sizes, then turns them into the most gorgeous library necklaces. They comes as collections like the ones above, or as individuals. I want one so bad. Seen on Craftzine.
PS. I have not blogged in a couple of days. 12 hour days plus trying desperately to do some craft stuff and take photographs means not a lot of time left in the day for anything else. I'm not making excuses, honest.

Paper Tokyo
So I can't afford a trip to Japan right now (or anytime in the next year and a half really) so instead I will build my own paper version using these amazing cut out and make postcards. My fave is the mini Godzilla.

Totoro + Mac = WANT
This Totoro vinyl decal for my Macbook. I heart Totoro, and I heart my Mac, so I think that means this is pretty much a necessary purchase, yes?

Triplets of Belleville

Tonight I spent my evening watching this beautiful film. I wasn't too sure what to expect from it really, but it pretty much blew my socks off. Touching, funny, and visually stunning, it is just perfect. Oh, and there is almost no dialogue in the whole film. Of course I am now obsessed with Bruno, the dog. Go buy a copy, right now. Oh, and that's number 7 crossed off my 100 films list.

Sunshine Cleaning

I just watched this film, which also happens to be number 90 off my 100 films to watch list. It is by the people who produced Little Miss Sunshine and is quite similar in its humour. And it has Amy Adams in who I love love love. If you haven't already seen it I recommend watching Junebug, just because her character in it is the loveliest thing ever.
